Mommy, look! It's my wedding dress!

Oh come on, you know you played this at least once when you were little.

The Great Snow of '09

Sorry for the blackout -- M. was in the US for a week, and H. had the Internet off for work and sanity. That got to be a habit.

In luddite news, H. hand-stitched Emily's new fleece underwear (to go under her coats and cover her belly and chest). So, blackout over. Because it SNOWED. Yay!

Energizer Puppy

First, the roses. It's been over 3 months since we planted the slips, and each cutting has two huge extra shoots and a bud each.
[any day now]

Bunily also discovered napping on Daddy:
But don't let the snoozing convince you otherwise. Emily's the Energizer Puppy. Today, after two walks of 1 hour each, morning and evening, and one mini walk of 20 minutes in between (cut short because she got gooey poo all over her bum), Emily came home for a game of Crazy Fetch:

Buttnaps and Books and Bread

Mommy cut herself off from the Internet during the day to work, but Bumily's been a busy puppy.

Cute puppies can nap anywhere and get away with it. Guess what's my new pillow!
[Don't lose weight, Mommy. Cushy, tee hee]

And we can has three blankies.
[Good for hiding]

Emily hangs with Beary a lot 'cause he's cool.

[and he's into twine bondage]

Mommy hid the penis up on the top shelf 'cause of the yucko smell.

Emily took it out on the books.

This isn't a book, Mommy!

Oh, and Mommy made bread. Emily had some too by being really cute.

[Pretty tasty]

Just wait till you see how much the roses have grown!

Bulle Pezen & Emily, Savage Hunter

H. received e-mails from friends who Googled "bully sticks." Yes, they're dried bull penises, not "tendons." Aunty Fr asked if H. would still buy them.

The only change was that for a full day (and maybe longer) H. couldn't stop saying BULL PENIS at all times.

"Emily, would you like your BULL PENIS?"
"Emily, you stink like BULL PENIS!"
"Emily, behave, or I'll take away the BULL PENIS!"

(et cetera, et cetera)

Uncle Shaggy thought it was too mean to make Emily engage in what he thought was a particular "grownup activity." H. wants him to know that if that's what he thinks it is: "DUDE, YOU'RE DOING IT WAY WRONG."

Spy Dog Deluxe

Weather's getting chillier, so H. laid out the blankie for Emily's spying activities.

Chicken Jerky for Dogs

Homemade, too!
I used the recipe at Recipezaar, but had to tweak it.

First, pre-heat the oven to 100 C
- We started with 3 chicken breasts fresh out of the package, not frozen
- cut them into strips, parallel to the grain (makes them more chewy)
- lay them out on a baking sheet.
- I skipped the garlic powder, as it's on the toxic list for dogs in large quantities (but Emily's a teeny dog)
- the recipe says cook at 100 C for 2-2.5 hours
- but I had to keep it in the oven for 6.5 hours. It was just watery at 2 hours.
- that might be due to oven differences, as this one's electric (with a ceramic stovetop)

After 6.5 hours:

(No, all those strips didn't just disappear. I put away the rest.)

There was a lot of water, and it hit the oven door and dripped into a puddle down outside the oven. A dripping pan under the baking sheets would be a good idea.

500 grams of chicken breast yields 180 grams of jerky. Not too shabby, and no preservatives or coloring either. Yay! This should last her about 10 days.

[ETA] 2nd try was much easier.
An oven pan caught the dripping, and putting the fan on reduced cooking time to 4 hours.

(I hid one in a box that used to contain really nice Oolong tea -- a present from one of M.'s grad students from China. )

Favorite Sushi: Toilet Roll

Pretending to bark at blackbirds, Emily tricked me by turning around and running off with fallen toilet roll (used for picking up her poo in the patio).

Our Yard

[Who me?]

is not really our yard, just three large grass plots shared by the three condo buildings. But Emily thinks the one in front of our house belongs to her, so when she's not outside, she stands up in her comfy chair and barks at every dog and bird that dares run around in it.

She eats daisies.

Next up (if Mommy's lucky): H. discovers the meaning of Bichon Blitzes. That's what a quarter of a dog will do for you.

Lazy Weekend

Emily's Diary, Saturday and Sunday

[Sat in a Patch of Sun with my Lamb Chewy]

[Yup, my throne is two sofa cushions
and Mommy's winter coat]

Daddy dragged me and lazy Mommy to the beach, where I left my mark:
[Emilysaurus Rex]

And I dug up Someone Else's Huge Old Poo in the sand and carried it around before Daddy stole my preciouses away from me.

Then I kissed a boy with that mouth:

[Tee hee, teasies]

Beach Day Report II

Videos from Beach Day. Some are pretty, some are pretty dizzy.
엄마+아빠, 좋은 주말 보내세요. 해변가 비디오 올려요.

When we first put her down on sand, Emily did a mini-FRAP, and then went running in circles. Watch at your own risk. (tee hee)

We're just not fast enough for her, but she always comes back when called at the beach.

[More Energy than the Duracel Bunny]

Of course, there was treasure everywhere, silly humans!

[Emily the Digger]

Emily also discovered... BIRDS!

[Chickens! Flying Black Chickens!]
--
Lately, Emily and H. have taken to walkies in the nearby forest/park. It's too far off that getting there would be enough walkie for the whole day, before we even begin!

So H. stuffs the puppy in her puppy-carry bag. If only Emily wouldn't go Cujo inside.

Island

It was gorgeous out, sunny and warm, if windy. Emily went walking in a park in the morning, and this afternoon, we set her loose on the tiny island in the middle of our local canal. A lovely time was had by all.

Except maybe the poor brown dog who barked at us jealously from a nearby terrace.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Emily notes: From week 13 - week 17
- excellent walks on loose leash
- housetrained - knows to stand on box at door to go outside
- immediately obeys sit, come, watch, and off.
- sleeps for 8 hours at night
- stays nearby when off leash and outdoors

Indoor Activities

On rainy days, Emily digs up the mud in the garden. Then she digs up the chair Mommy sits in:

She also cruises the Internet when Mommy's trying to work:

So, we go dancing, instead:

[Yes, she ends it with a kiss.]
She likes it better with Daddy:

Listen carefully. M.'s tooting one of those songs from Boys Before Flowers. He does it all day. It's driving H. nuts.
--
While Hana Yori Dango is getting more fun, Boys Before Flowers꽃보다 남자 has hit the 10 Ep Curse of Boring. 11 was an absolute SNOOZER. H. almost fell asleep while subbing. They really should have made this 12 eps total, instead of 16.

Mud Garden

As I said yesterday, Emily is getting to be quite a handful:[She's quite tall, too]
[Hi, granma!]
Of course, it was all my fault. We went out for potty, and afterwards, I let her play. Emzee looked for slugs in the garden plot:

And tried finger-painting:

Wish us luck! We're off to Puppy Class, today!
--
Aw... 김연아 fell during her triple loop in the 4 Continents. Still, she won. Like every other Korean person, H. adores 연아. So smart, so spunky. Though, I quite like Asada, too. Skating, yeah, but she's got really cute paint-smudge eyebrows that I'm trying next.

Finally, H.'s favorite sport (M. laughs and laughs) is getting some face time. After years of staying up till 4am watching Tara Lipinsky or Sarah Hughes or Irina Slutskaya skate on Sky TV (and wishing for years Michelle Kwan would win the Olympics for once), Vancouver 2010 should be a blast.

Shoe Eater Mud Slinger

Emily has gotten bigger and stronger over the past week. Ergo, her damage capacity is greater. Yesterday, she ripped the cover off a phone book, and then tore it to shreds. She also likes our shoes:
Also, my fuzzy slippers:

So, we got Emzee (Emily강아지) her own shoe:
