Milestones

[Dozy]

Emily's new cut is making her look like a much older puppy, or maybe she is an older puppy, at almost four months. In a bit, she'll be hitting adolescence. She's already forgotten how to "sit" if there's no treat.
[Emily ate her rose]
Her new hair cut gives her the sideways ponytail look. This is Emily with Mousie, her first toy, which she brought home (smelling of her litter mates) [Emily catches Mousie]

Today, she's been sitting on her haunches and dragging her butt across the cement tiles, which means she'll need to have her "anal glands expressed" if Mommy only knew how.

Looking forward to blood and teeth in her water bowl any day now.

Sunday in the Park with Emily

Getting up at the crack of dawn means breakfast, potties, playing fetch, e-mail, newspapers, and first round of chocolates(for us) are over by 8 am. H&M are sitting around with puppy going, hmm, what now?

So we started off Sunday with a drive to the nearest large park (not teeny dog park).
[Prisoner Transport 1124]

And hey, there were black swans! Like effing Swan Lake!

And first signs of spring. Crocuses coming up under dead leaves, and all that. Of course, while H. is thinking, oh pretty! lilies of the valley! M. goes "Woo hoo! Alien Pod Plants!"

[Too much Star Trek on the brain]

Then again, he is right on with: "this park sure looks weird."
Straight out of a Guillermo del Toro film.

All the while, Emily was on her happy walk. We bribed her with treats not to bark at joggers.

Of course, some of you might have noticed the sharp drop in Emily pictures (or posting of obscured ones). Yes, you're right on. Mommy went scissor happy on her face, and now Emily looks like Max Headroom.

- Puppy Walks: must not be too strenuous or will strain growing joints and muscles. 5x number of months old, and adjust for energy level.

- Thursday (2/26), H. walked out the door without her keys, and so she and Emily had to walk 55 minutes to M.'s department and get him to drive us home. H. tried to carry Emily part of the way, but the puppy would have none of that.

Open Letter to the White Wookie

[Eats Forests, Really Tall]

Dear Emily,

Mommy and Daddy are really thrilled you're not constipated any more. After a day of nothing in nothing out, the poo machine is back!

Mommy doesn't mind (so much) picking up your poo and washing your butt 4 times a day (and letting you out to pee another 6 times).

She doesn't mind scooping out the crusty upper layer of old stinky dirt in our little garden because you've peed there so often it's an open latrine.

But remember our little garden?
It's kind of little, and you've just about killed Mo the chrysanthemum, but it's still big enough to poo in for a little wookie like you.

So why'd you have to pick that impossible spot between the metal fence and the wood border to drop your poos in? Mommy's hand can't reach in there.
It was embarrassing the first time when Mommy went next door and asked our neighbor if Mommy could pick up your poo from the other side of the fence.

So the second time, Mommy decided poking it out with a plastic fork was better than the shame.

Next time, could you be a honey, and poo where Mommy can get to it? Thx.

H&M

Kitchen Bowl Cuts

Ever groaned about the Kitchen Bowl Hair Cuts when you were little?

H.'s mom was quite genius with kiddie hair cuts, and from pictures, we look pretty spiffy for ages 5 and 7. Mushroom hair! B

So having no bad childhood memories, H. gave Emily a home cut.

(before all 4 sets of puppy shots are done, a groomer's might be one of the worst places to take a puppy. Think of all the dogs going in and out. Like a park, with all the dog poo in one stinky sandbox! Then again, will get her used to being handled.)

Now, she doesn't look like a mini-sheep dog, and minus the snout-hair blinkers and fluffy long bangs, Emily's eyes are back!

(as you can see, one eye looks bigger than the other eye, just like H.)

[What's the fuss? I'm always pretty!]
Obviously, H. is not very good at snipping fur off a squirming puppy. And this is with M. holding her st533.
Note) 15 weeks, 1 day, weight: 2.3 kgs
