In an hour, we'll take Emily to the vet to see if she's well on the road to recovery. The signs are good. During the weekend, she,
1) barked at Daddy when H&M got into a little tiff. (I thought it was funny. M. is not so sure about that)
2) barked at random people walking by and the dogs playing in front of our house
3) ate chicken three meals a day, mixed with rice and sometimes cheese.
4) even ate a whole bowl of kibble after that, the little pig.
but,
She still sleeps all day, and isn't allowed (by the vet) more than a 10 minute walk. (H. cheats by taking her out 3-4 times a day, instead).
We're trying not to call her Bumily.

Sick Days (10)
Emily's back from the vet:
- no problem with bloodwork
- slight lowering of temperature (39.5)
- will eat chicken and rice/potato
- sleeps a LOT, and walks shaky.
Recovery will be very slow.
We're going back for a 5th vet visit next Tuesday to see how she's doing. I miss our crazy, barky, bossy doggie.

Fame for Pot Puppy
Emily has been to the vet for some stomach trouble, which turned out mostly to be alarmed-parentitis. Still, she has new vet prescribed food (which she loves) and pills. Shoving them down her throat is H.'s new specialty.--
Emily is the featured puppy on Daily Puppy for March/13th, US time. Hee!

Lest the cuteness on Daily Puppy let you forget, remember Emily is a pooper and messy digger extraordinaire:

The Dutch Team is going to the next round of the World Baseball Classics. Who knew the Dutch were so good at honkball? Of course Korea's made it to the next round as #1 from Group A, but now the players are all whining and sluggish and talking of dropping out. With your shield or on it, LOSERS! We're playing Mexico next on 3/16.

Vet Visit: Sex Change Operation
WILL NOT BE NECESSARY!
[Rrrufff! I'm a Girl!]
To celebrate the end of Em's gender confusion, Mommy decked her out in her blue shirt. tee hee.
(In Holland, like most western countries, blue means boy and pink means girls. You get little dry biscuits with sprinkles in the respective colors when a baby's born. Beschuit met Muisjes)
Anyway, if your little girl puppy has a little hairy nub that looks like a penis between her hind legs, she's still not a boy. tee hee. (unless is farther up her stomach)
Emily also got her 3rd vac, deworming, general check, a green light to go walking in public areas, and her microchip injection. That hurt a bit. But now any vet or shelter in Western Europe can hold a scanner ring over her neck, and know who she is and where she lives.
(M. wonders when governments will start chipping citizens. H. says offer tax payback and drinkies+fuel rations.)
On that cheery note, H. leaves you with Em's first guard puppy duty against the ebil Monthly Window Washing Guy:

After Yummy Food, Emily Barks at My Ankles
Post-vet, Emily was sleepy and needy, and refusing food.
So she got turkey white meat and no-salt gravy for dinner. She licked the bowl a dozen times after the food vanished, as if that would make more turkey appear.
Already I dread her reproachful face tomorrow when she finds Orijen in her bowl as usual.

Emily likes digging... in her crate. FRAP or post-poo euphoria?

Lazy Afternoons
Emily's energy turns on and off. Some afternoons, she can't be bothered to get up:
[news] Our visit to the vet's office was perfect and bribed with cheese. As usual with strangers, Emily went ears down, tail waggy, not a peep, even with a vacc shot. Big hit. Then she slept all afternoon, and got up at 10 pm to chase my ankles and bark at me. H. is learning how to growl with authority.
