Bundle Bunny

H&M are a bit rushed (and Emily is sitting on Mommy's lap with wet feet, leaving a damp spot on her work pants), so only a little bit of Bunny goodness for today:

[MY blankie]

Lately, Daddy's been the primary care-giver. He's been updating the blog too (as you might have noticed from the decrease in ridiculousness)

Three Seats in Every Room

This is Emily's chair. Sadly, it has a non-removable cover and we can't wash it, ergo, it's very very stinky.
[Like Good Stinky?]

Sometimes, M. claims it to wrangles her Nibs for eye-gunk cleaning. Otherwise, it's Emily's own place. (besides the mattress, three cushions, 2 boxy sofa cushions, her crate, a hidey box, and 2 blankies spread out around the house)

The amazing flying puppy

Evidently, Emily thinks removing her ovaries was meant to make her lighter for air travel.

When we came home, H.'s leftover slice of cake, sitting high up on the kitchen table, was GONE, and a doggy munch left on the rest of the pound cake. We can only assume that Emily learned how to fly.

(or she jumped on the chair, then up on the table, ate the cake, knocked a magazine to the floor, and jumped back down, innocently wagging her tail to greet us in the hall)

[Let her eat Cake]

- well, she'd already gnawed at it, anyway.

- and yes, she's eating pound cake, lying on Mommy's (faux) fur jacket, after she'd had 2 breakfasts already out of her Koryo celadon doggy bowl.

Post-Surgery Day 2

Emily has perfected the keening whine, and uses it at all times, for food, water, ice-cubes, chewies, sunnies, laps, and when she wants to potty.

Mommy has been airlifting her highness on a pillow to carry her over the threshold and out into the garden.

This morning, Emily whined to go in and out and in and out 6-8 times (over an hour and a half), before she settled down on her pillow outside in the sun, and then PEED on her pillow.

Yes, Mommy's a wuss. We know.

Aunt Mmii wanted reports

You forget a couple of days, and it's harder to come back, 'cause you've got no excuse for slacking off except laziness. The Internets are like that. (like dissertating) You start getting behind and you can't ever catch up. tee hee.

Emily's been busy eating and sleeping and learning new ways of being whiny. Chip off the old block.
[Boring! Change the channel, Daddy! I want Dog Whisperer]

[And bring me more icecream]

Today was the last day of Puppy Class (12 weeks!) She can do Down and Wait, now. Also, can tolerate dogs she knows (except when she doesn't want to and snaps at them). After Puppy Class, Daddy takes her upstairs for a bath. She's a huge baby: 3 kg. We should call up her vet for a spay- consultation, soon.
[What? But I need to be a WOMAN!]

--
ps, the title is not a typo, but a clever way of preserving Aunt Mmii's anonymity. Now, no one can guess her name! (SMRT!)

Lazy Saturday, again

Right now, Emily is playing with her bunny over in the living room, and H. is trying to claim some human time at the kitchen table. Oh, my beautiful study, how I miss you.
[The "flying frog" position]

But too often, even though it's boring, Emily hangs out too much with her Mommy. (Yes, sad. We're calling ourselves Mommy and Daddy, now)

[엄마 뭐해?/ Watcha doin', Mommy?]
Of course, this never lasts for long.
[Play!]

Lazy Afternoons

Emily's energy turns on and off. Some afternoons, she can't be bothered to get up:

[news] Our visit to the vet's office was perfect and bribed with cheese. As usual with strangers, Emily went ears down, tail waggy, not a peep, even with a vacc shot. Big hit. Then she slept all afternoon, and got up at 10 pm to chase my ankles and bark at me. H. is learning how to growl with authority.

Pottery, Games, Life as Usual

Taking play pictures of her is difficult, as she stops what she's doing and comes over when the camera is on her. At least she's not a total blur.
[Sit! for the camera]

[What, you didn't take down the Christmas tree, yet?]

-- M. likes the cheery look. Left to him, we'd have the tree out until March. Some People We Know have their tree sitting out all year long, for several years.
*
My mom has always insisted on good dishes and silver silverware, so it was sad to hear Wedgewood went bellyup this year. After it happened to Lennox last year, too.

Mom's been sending the whole Lennox "Consort" line to me, 2-6 pieces at a time by mail and over visits. We now have the full set. This is the only one that acquired an interesting hairline fracture (all the others arrived safe), and is my favorite 'cause it split its side, hee hee.
Emily, privileged puppy that she is, eats out of Koryo Celadon. :
Don't worry. She's not too spoiled. It was just the right size. Her water bowl is a hamster dish.

Wish her luck! Emily's off to the vet for her puppy vaccs in 2 hours.

Anorexia or Pickiness?

Emily is being needy lap-puppy, refusing to eat her nice Orijen puppy food at meal time, and insisting she clamber up on me to have toast with apricot jam, too. Silly puppy!

I have to trick her into eating with the Kong. Wow, food slot machine! Gotta have that!

[mistake] So the Elfstedentocht wasn't on Jan/8. It must have been some other natural ice marathon, or other.

[good news] I keep tabs on dierenasiels, to see who's out there. Iggy Pudd, the Shiba mill rescue that I wasn't allowed to adopt, has finally found a suitable family. Yay!

Image, Reality, Truth

M. came up with the brilliant plan of providing Emily with burrow space. Romping fosters excitement and mania; burrowing induces calm. Our theory.

Hee hee hee, and it's a lot of safe fun. During the day, Emily plays best alone when hanging out in her snow garden. [Can you find the puppy?]
Now, can you see her? And, yes, that's Captain Keropi, a prezzie from Aunt Freda, and now Emily's favorite toy. We take it away from her when she's about to go Cujo.

Emily is pretty good for an 8 week+1day old puppy. Downtime in her crate is good for her.
Of course, she romped right in there on her own. And the door's swinging wide open.

Spoiled Puppy

Emily's favorite thing is to find a warm person nook and snuggle.
When I let her on the floor, she scrambles back for my lap, feet, anything. She likes to hang out under my butt.
She slept all day yesterday, and woke up at midnight. Upon which, she proceeded to PLAY, all night long. Keeping me awake, playing and snuggling the puppy. Yes, H. spoiled the puppy on her first day. This morning, she had one pee and one poo accident. It's all my fault!
So, we're back to Dr. Ian Dunbar's hardcore crate training:
She woke up in the crate, and cried for about 20 minutes, but we fed her 1/4 her lunch in there, and she cried a bit more, and fell asleep. Potty time scheduled in 30min.

Maybe it would be easier to train her if she were ugly.
