Moving, maybe not moving on yet, but getting there..

We moved Emily's ashes from the bottom middle shelf to the corner third shelf because, fourteen months after we lost our princess, we are opening our hearts to another dog.

Lily is five, and was rescued from a kill station where she was dumped by people who used to beat her.

It still hurts. I still cry over our Emily. But this time next week, we'll be able to channel some of that loss into caring for someone who deserves a bit of pampering at long last. It's Emily's last gift.

[ Behind the Collected Peanuts screen, because Emily was like that, a smart, cool, opinionated puppy ]

"I like to think about the first law of thermodynamics, that no energy in the universe is created and [...n]one is destroyed. "That means that every bit of energy inside us, every particle will go on to be a part of something else; maybe live as a dragonfish, a microbe, maybe burn in a supernova. And every part of us now was once a part of some other thing - a moon, a storm cloud, a mammoth. [A] monkey. [...] Thousands and thousands of other beautiful things that were just as terrified to die as we are. We gave them new life, a good one, I hope."

The true meaning of Walkies

After I took her out for a roll around the block, Emily refuses to come out of her new rolley luggage.

Allergy search

Bumster's back from the vet after her plaque cleaning. Now to track down her allergies.  All meals are now potatoes and horse meat.  Mommy thinks oh yuck, Bummy is super happy with it.

Our vet nurse hinted that Emily might not feel like eating after her ordeal. Bumster was SO ready for food after starving for 24 hours. Nothing will keep tubby from the FOODS. BTW, Bumster's down to 6.55kg. Diet is going okay.

She's ignoring the bed!

Scooch over, Mommy.

She's not murdering her bed!!!

When she was little,  Bumster used to fight, kill, then pee on the plush dogbeds Daddy got her. We're hoping she's mellowed out.

Basket time!

The bike basket is in the house: Bumster likes snuggling against the sides, so I lined a blankie innit.

Less gunky, still stinky

Obsessive effort on mommy's part to clean out Bumster's eyes has led to less crusty gunk. Her breath is still toxic though,  so no more nummy chicken and peas&carrot dinners. It's back to Orijen for you. Mommy still loves you, bubby.

Sleeping on a Sunbeam

Bummy has a bit of mucky eye - lots of yellowish mucus - and has a vet visit scheduled for 2 hours from now. Good thing she doesn't know that.
Not knowing the future and being happy (instead of scared about it) is where doggies have one huge up on people.
